Durham Lamaze instructors are located throughout the GTA and Durham Region. The Lamaze International Certification Program is the only childbirth educator certification program that is accredited by NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies). All of our Lamaze educators are certified and are required to re-certify every three years through continuing education, birth observation, and class observation.

Our educators come from various professional and medical backgrounds and have chosen the path of Childbirth Education.

Patricia Norton - L.C.C.E.

Patti has been certified as a Lamaze instructor since 1996. Her client's complete satisfaction is of the utmost importance. Patti believes that clients should be having fun while they are learning birthing information. She ensures that every client feels comfortable and well prepared for the birth of their child. Patti is the mother of four and therefore, can identify with the needs and concerns of parents-to-be. Over the years she has worked with couples, singles, teens, multiple births and women with special needs. She respects and encourages clients to make well informed decisions for their own birth experience.

Valerie Mandarich - L.C.C.E.

Valerie's goal as a childbirth educator is to help new mothers and their partners achieve satisfaction in their birth experience. This is accomplished with the use of discussion and fun, interactive activities. Valerie's classes are always interesting and informative. Each class series is changed to fit the needs of the couples being taught so that each person understands and benefits from the information being given. Valerie's classes don't just stop at childbirth. She also helps prepare new parents for life after childbirth with a new baby. Her openness, humour and honesty has helped prepare many new parents in the Durham Region.

Nicola Van Dam - L.C.C.E.

Nicola became interested in pursuing childbirth education after the birth of her son. As a firm believer in education, she took a Lamaze class and found the class an enjoyable and fun way to learn about one of the biggest experiences of her life.

Nicola holds a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Diploma in Human Service Counselling. She worked for a number of large companies prior to having her son. Now, Nicola is committed to helping parents-to-be become informed of their options surrounding their birth experience in a fun, humorous and interactive way.

Nicole Wright - RN, BSc.N, L.C.C.E.

Nicole has been a Registered Nurse for the past 18 years, is a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and mother of 3 young children. Her passion has always centered on working with clients in their journey through pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. Nicole brings energy and enthusiasm to her informative, fun and interactive classes. She believes you should be empowered with evidenced-based information in order to make informed choices about childbirth, breastfeeding and newborn care. She also feels it is a privilege to provide education to women and their partners during this amazing life event. She looks forward to helping parents-to-be feel confident and well prepared for their childbirth experience and beyond.

Dr. Kelly McAllister

Dr. Kelly McAllister is a Chiropractor and certified First Aid and CPR instructor. She has been teaching classes in the Durham Region for over 20 years and has taught many young families what to do in the case of an emergency. Classes are taught on a monthly basis and private classes can also be arranged in order to teach siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, babysitters or anyone caring for the child.
